Why "Energy Intelligence"?

Are you currently doing work that excites you, gets you up in the morning, and energizes you? If not, hopefully you have at some point in your career! But do you know why certain jobs appeal to you and others don't--especially those that you're highly skilled at? Knowing "why" can improve your success and that of your business. How much more productive could your business be if all your employees worked in jobs and roles that excited and energized them every day. You can start by increasing your energy intelligence.

Energy + Intelligence Defined as a Strength

Energy is within us and all around us--life doesn't exist without it. Every situation is made up of energy in motion. How we acquire energy, generate it, harness it, renew it, and share it make all the difference in our attitudes, behaviors, abilities, capabilities, and wellbeing.

Intelligence is the what, when, where, why, and how much of knowledge and wisdom we apply in the moment for any situation. Its sources emanate from our body, mind, heart, and soul and reflect through our use of self.

Energy can work for us or against us, and in either case, it’s still energy. We've all experienced situations filled with passion and meaningfulness (energizers), as well as experiences that seemed to suck the life out of us (drainers). What if we understood why and used this knowledge in the form of personal, team, and organizational strengths?

All changes we experience, planned or unplanned, involve the full spectrum of energy—both energizers and drainers. Knowing what we enjoy doing, knowing what we detest doing, and knowing how to optimize both are key to increasing our energy intelligence. The more we can stay energized, the more changes will revert to opportunities for learning and growth. Also, know that what drains our energy, energizes someone else!
